RESPONSIBILITIES
It is the responsibility of the client to be present and available to speak to during the job procedure so they can look at the progress and agree or disagree at the time of the work being done. Especially when a colour is being applied, it is the responsibility of the client to be present to ensure that a test patch can be done on site and or colour issues can be sorted out at the time of the work being done and not afterwards. We take no responsibility for clients being unavailable to speak to or to inspect the work that we have been asked to do  at the time of doing the work. We endeavour to give enough notice to make sure that proper communication can be hard at all times. We advise clients of the necessity of this communication customarily.

ADVICE
During the process of offering a quote, we endeavour to explain every possibility, option, method and outcome to the client. Clients choosing an inferior or inadequate method for their floor may suffer the consequences explained such as coatings wearing out sooner, coating lifting or uneven look upon excessive colour application. Whilst we endeavour to inform and warn our customers of possible negative outcomes, we take no responsibility for effects on flooring surfaces should a client choose an option that has been advised against. Our warranty will not cover such decisions made by the client.

OUTCOMES
It is our practice to discuss all options on the first or second conversation with our clients. We direct our clients to our website so that they can further inform themselves of all possible outcomes associated with work we might undertake on their behalf. Our quote also mentions our website for secondary reinforcement of information having been relayed to clients prior to them deciding on a particular method. Some methods have some advantages and some disadvantages, whilst other methods have different advantages and disadvantages. We endeavour to explain as best as we can and we do not take responsibility for clients’ decisions henceforth. Price variation, method variation, product choice and other variants can alter outcomes and durability length and the acceptance of a quote with our website quoted, deems itself as acceptance of having been advised and taken responsibility of possibilities of outcome on product, durability and method chosen.

PECULIARITIES OF FLOORS
Some methods of work may or may not be successful on certain floors, some floors may have extra hardness, or humidity or may have been exposed to fluids or silicons, and it is sometimes impossible to know the history of a floor. Responsibility is not taken for unusual circumstances where a coating lifts or yellows or behaves uncharacteristically due to possible previous components having come in contact with the floor, or other unforeseen circumstances affecting the standard expectation of coating life length.

Dust Mask

Dust
Whenever anyone works with wood, they need to be mindful of any dust that can get in the air when sanding a floor. Too much dust can leave very visible residue all over your home, but it can also be harmful to your body. These tiny particles can wreak havoc on your lungs. Make sure your hardwood flooring specialist uses “dustless” systems such as the top of the range ones that we do use. If you’re sanding the floors yourself, a dust mask is always an important precaution to take. We use dustless machines, which means that there is a bag attached to the machine which catches the dust. We are very aware and conscientious about reducing dust.

Stain Splash/edger marks
Laying down stain has the unfortunate side effect of lightly splashing near or on walls and edges sometimes. We try to be delicate and use a fine brush to make sure we don’t knick any baseboards, as stain gets everywhere. Taping the baseboards is usually a given, but even that can’t prevent some splashing from occurring and leaving a mark above the taped section. Also reaching the very edge of the hard timber floor with a hand or edging sander, can cause us to touch the skirting boards or kitchen splash backs. We advise that you cover and protect these or touch them up after the floor sanding and polishing has taken place. It is unavoidable that sometimes the edger machine will touch the edges and responsibility cannot be taken for damage caused during this process, although it is rare that we would touch them.

Finish Fumes
Finishing a floor requires the use of chemicals and oils that can have incredibly strong smells. The process of finishing a floor requires lots of ventilation. For this reason, we ask our customers to not be present in the home while we are applying finish. While some people think they can tolerate the fumes, pets and children cannot. It’s imperative to not have pets or children in a home while hardwood floor finish is airing out, especially if it is a solvent based product. 95% of our work is water-based coatings, however precautions are still necessary.
